Austin, Texas and Galveston Island

We drove into Austin from our campsite west of the city. Our first stop was board game store called Whose turn is it? We arrived a tad too early so we walked across the street to Papalote Taco House. Amy and I both got some awesome tacos. When I say awesome I mean AWESOME!

We walked back to the board game place. Amy and I played two board games, Forbidden Desert and Zombies!!! Both were fun games although Forbidden Desert was the winner of the two for the day.

Next we headed to 512 Brewing Company, we found out they only do tours once a week and we managed to be there on the right day! After some tasty beers and a free glass we went to another brewery called Hops and Grains, while there instead of a flight of beer you buy a glass and get tickets for refills (I think they do it because of government restrictions). While at Hops and Grains we met some locals and got some insider info as to some BBQ places. The one we settled on was called the Green Mesquite BBQ.

BBQ time!
Concluding our dinner we left the car at the bbq place and walked downtown. We walked across the river and noticed a bridge with lots of people around it, we found out they were waiting to watch the bats fly out from under the bridge at sundown. We headed further into downtown looking at all the sights.

Play me a tune!
We stopped at a random spot for some desert (cheesecake and ice cream) Inside we found out that there was a comedy club in the back. A last minute decision had us in some seats watching three acts of improv comedy. One act was really good, one mediocre and one cringey one. We headed back to the car after the show and found a place to sleep.

The next day we woke up and started the drive to Galveston. The Gulf of Mexico was beautiful going across the bridges. We stopped at the local tourism center and passed by some amazing old houses. Next to the tourism center was a hall set up for a wedding?

Ooh fancy
We wanted to see the harbour side drive so again we parked at the visitors center and explored. Eventually we started to feel hungry and decided to find some place to eat. We passed by a few spots but settled on a place called Olympia the Grill at Pier 21. A beer for me and a sangria for Amy along with some tasty food.

Wild man hair.
We planned on leaving the island on the ferry on the east side but it was Sunday afternoon and we found the line waiting was long! So we decided to take the bridge on the west side and then drive on the main land east.
