Bryce Canyon National Park

When I was 14 I did a jigsaw puzzle of Bryce Canyon and I've wanted to visit ever since. There are so many interesting National Parks clustered around Southern Utah and Northern Arizona that we were really getting our moneys worth out of our annual National Parks Pass.

Bryce Canyon was a short 2.5 hour drive from Zion. We stopped in for a delicious lunch at Galaxy Diner on the way. We set up camp on arrival and I set off to hike the Peekaboo loop while Bill got some much needed R&R.

On the Peekaboo Loop Trail
The Peekaboo trail leads down from the canyon rim and in among the hoodoos that line the side of the rock face.
Hoodoos come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. They are carved out of the Colorado Plateau by erosion into alien like formation and then eventually succumb to erosion themselves.

The Hoodoos from Inspiration Point

The next morning Bill and I hiked down the Navajo loop to get into some really cool hoodoo crevices. The walk had us going down through some cool terrain.

Creeping down the path between two giant hoodoos.
I can't hold it!

What!?! Two?
