En Route to Bruce Peninsula

Amy here, writing to you from the Chi-Cheemaun ferry to Manitoulin Island with Bill. Before I get into that though, I want to post a bit about the first two days of our trip.

Ready to depart King City

We decided to stay for lunch in King City so both of my parents could see us off for a 1 pm departure. My mom made us vegetable soup and BLTs. After one last check to make sure we had everything important we set out up the 400 and across highway 9. Driving through towns that were so familiar to us made it hard to believe we were leaving on such a long journey at all.
We stopped in at Inglis Falls just South of Owen Sound and stretched our legs. You can hike all the way down to the base of the falls.

We made another quick stop at Jones falls to explore another waterfall and a quick hike.

Another hour of driving had us hungry so we stopped in at the town of Wiarton to grab some grocery for the next few days at the Foodland and eat dinner at a picnic bench by the lakeside. Wiarton was our first big indication that we had left the city in the South. Life moves much more slowly up here. No one's in a hurry and everyone stops to chat with one another. The people we met, even in the grocery store were happy to talk to us.

At last we made it to Bruce Peninsula by 7 pm. The park was nearly empty and we easily got a tent site in Cyprus Lake right near the water. After setting everything up we had time to go for a short walk with hour last hour of sunlight.
