Seeing the Sights on Manitoulin Island

First post from Bill due to him being lazy... also the reason we woke up later today than normally planned. But when we did wake up we planned out our day.
The results were:

  • Hike the tea cup and saucer trail
  • Go to bridal veil falls
  • Swim if the temperature of the water was agreeable
  • Make some dinner
  • Pack our ^&**(% for the canoe trip

The tea cup and saucer trail was the first stop. We packed a lunch and drove there. Upon looking at the map we decided to do a long hike (10 km) up the escarpment than around the top. You get some amazing views of the island being 352 meters (1155 feet) up.

Me perched uncomfortably on a rock over the long drop

Afterwards we drove a short distance to bridal veil falls near a small town named Kagawong. We were planning on doing a hike while stopping there but both of us were sore from the earlier hike. Luckily the falls was just down a few flights of stairs. You can't see it in the pictures but there is a second smaller falls to the left. I decided to venture into the water and get behind the water. Luckily I managed to stay relatively dry.

Exploring behind the falls
Hooray!

Now to cross back (behind the falls was slippery with mud)

After bridal falls we walked to the close town of Kagawong. They really put alot of work, time and money into some of the trails around the town. Lots of water running around the paths and under them. It stared to look like it was going to rain so we went back to the camp site. There we made dinner and got ready for the next few days where we shall be doing a 3 day canoe trip.
